NURE Healthcare, Inc. - MEDICAL DIRECTOR NURE Healthcare, Inc. is seeking a medical director to provide services in its new lifestyle change and addiction rehabilitation center located in the Caribbean. The Medical Director has a key role in ensuring that the organization’s mission, goals, and values are supported and facilitated by the medical staff. H/she is responsible for overall patient services. In addition, the Medical Director is responsible for the management of the medical staff, as well as clinic-wide coordination of the delivery of professional medical care, facilitation of the medical care review process, and development of the health care plan. H/she oversees and facilitates the assurance that the medical program’s clinical measures are being met. H/she provides direct patient care balanced with .25 administrative responsibilities. The Medical Director will work closely with the staff and researchers at the Division on Addictions and will report to the Board of NURE as well as be overseen by the director of the Division. NURE Healthcare, Inc., (“NURE” or the “Company”) is being established to provide healthcare services through an integrated network of world class facilities in the Caribbean region with corporate offices in the U.S. NURE has identified its first potential facility in Barbados for the offering of lifestyle change and addiction treatment, and intends to acquire and build additional facilities throughout the Caribbean in the next five years. NURE believes that its evidence based treatment approach, availability of highly qualified medical professionals and resort atmosphere of the Caribbean will attract patients from the United States, Canada and Western Europe. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS The successful candidate should have completed an M.D. degree from an accredited School of Medicine and Residency Program required and achieved board certification in psychiatry or primary care. The candidate must be currently licensed to practice in the US, UK, or Caribbean. Previous experience should be from an ambulatory clinic, community health center, or hospital setting, as well as previous experience supervising medical providers and affiliated medical support staff, a must. The position will be based in the Caribbean. It is anticipated that the initial treatment program location will be Barbados. As this is a formative stage company, the applicant should be prepared to work in such a startup environment and must recognize that they will initially comprise a material part of the startup team for launching the operation. Study Recruitment Opportunities The Effect of Alcohol on Atherosclerosis and Cardiovascular Risk Factors The Division of General Medicine & Primary Care at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) is conducting an NIH-sponsored clinical study on the effects of alcohol on atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries). We are looking for individuals who are 55 or older, have diabetes or other cardiovascular risk factors, and drink alcohol at least occasionally. Individuals with a previous heart attack or stroke are eligible. Participants will be randomly assigned to drink one of two beverages daily for 6 months, and will undergo 2 MRI examinations of their blood vessels. One of the beverages contains 10% alcohol, and the other does not. The study requires 9 visits to the General Clinical Research Center at the BIDMC over 6 months. Reimbursement: up to $270.00.
